What You'll Learn
Windows are an essential feature on any historic building and properly maintained, they can last for hundreds of years. Participants will learn the techniques to fully restore and care for wood window sashes, from start to finish, as well as learn options for more energy efficiency.
The course will cover stripping paint efficiently, repairs, cutting new glass, and glazing techniques. We will also dive into options for sealing drafty windows, from the best weatherstripping products to interior and exterior storms.
Replacement windows are just that – windows that need to be replaced every 20-30 years. There are plenty of options to keep existing wood windows and make them work for the occupants of a building. The steps to get there are surprisingly easy and straightforward.

Course Audience & Additional Details
The target audience is historic property owners looking to fully restore their historic wood windows or make them more energy efficient and anyone looking to learn an interesting new skill!
Participants will receive a Preserve Montana notebook, pencil, and print copy of Preserve Montana’s Restoration Guide for Historic Wood Windows.
Participants are responsible for bringing a sack lunch.
Registration
Registration is $65 for Preserve Montana members and $75 for non-members.
