Traditional Joinery & Wood Repair Workshop

Learn how to identify and assess rot, safely remove damaged wood, and select the right materials, adhesives, and fillers for lasting repairs on historic wood windows. After tool safety instruction (table saws, circular saws, oscillating tools, chisels, and more), you’ll see live demonstrations of rot removal, dutchman repairs, glue-ups, and lap joints—then put your skills into practice. Class size: 8 people.

Historic Preservation Principles Workshop

A dynamic two-day, interactive course that covers the fundamentals of preservation project decision-making—significance, integrity, character-defining features, treatment standards, and the framework of U.S. preservation law and policy. Designed for people practicing all facets of historic preservation and building trades. Class size: 10 people.

Basic Window Restoration Workshop

Restoring windows is one of the most beautiful and lasting acts of preservation. This workshop will teach basic skills for restoring historic wood windows. Scraping paint, minor wood repairs, cutting and replacing glass, glazing, and painting will be included in the hands-on experience. Class size: 8 people.

Historic windows are a key component to a building’s character and can be maintained for well over a century, if treated well. Pints for Preservation

Join us for a drink and help support the Baxendale Schoolhouse rehabilitation. Blackfoot River Brewing Company is graciously hosting Preserve Montana for a Community Monday. One dollar from every beer sold all day on May 20 will benefit the reuse of the schoolhouse as our Preservation Center. Preserve Montana staff will be there with a table and swag in the evening to join the fun.
